Clubs and school organizations are formed at Raymond Park Intermediate and Middle School as student interest develops. Listed below are current clubs and organizations with a brief description of each one. Students should listen for intercom announcements concerning organizational meetings.
Raymond Park Academic Teams engage our students in academic competition with other Marion County schools. The season is capped by a county-wide tournament for each grade level.
The Builder's Club allows students to examine engineering and construction techniques and ideas. Using and identified engineering problem, with the design of a bridge, the students draw and create a solution, use a computer simulation, build a model, and test the bridge model for its efficiency. An evaluation and discussion of the success of the student bridge design is determined with some entering area competition.
Cooking Club is an extension to the physical education department's wellness program. This club opportunity relies on various grants to allow students to learn/experience the preparation of nutritious foods that should be included as part of a healthy lifestyle.
Lego Mindstorm uses kits to engage students in the challenge of engineering a robot that can solve the tasks identified by the State and National organization. Competition in a Regional event allows students to compete against other schools in our area.
National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) consists of a community of 7th and 8th grade students who excel both in and out of the classroom. These students are invited to be a part of NJHS based on their GPA, leadership skills, and community involvement. The purpose of NJHS is to create enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote leadership, to develop character, and to encourage good citizenship in the students of Raymond Park Middle School.
Students in Robotics Club use VEX Robot kits to design, build, solve, and program set tasks assigned by the sponsoring organization or club for a competition.
Science Olympiad is a science based competition that takes place at the regional, state, and national level. Competitions are comprised of a number of events that require pairs of students to collaborate in the application of science to solve a problem.
Strength and Conditioning Club is designed to provide students with the basic knowledge of weight training/speed development, in progressive stages, in order to excel in respective sporting areas, maintain a healthy lifestyle, and to belong to something beneficial and constructive.
