November 13, 2024

Good Afternoon, Warren Scholars, Families, and Staff,

We have some important announcements for the week of November 13th.

#WarrenWill Shout Out to…

Congratulations once again to our Gold Brigade Marching Band & Guard on an outstanding season! As Scholastic Class A State Champions, they performed in an exhibition at the ISSMA Open Class State Finals at Lucas Oil Stadium on Saturday.

It's show week at the Warren Performing Arts Center! The Warren Central Performing Arts Department will present Cinderella this Thursday, November 14th at 7:00 pm, Friday, November 15th at 7:00 pm, and Saturday, November 16th at 5:00 pm. Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for students (PreK-12) and staff (ID required, limit 1). Ticket sales are now open, and we expect this event to be a big seller, so get your tickets early! For more information, click here. Hope to see you on opening night!

Improving Student Attendance

I want to give a big #WarrenWill shout-out to our students for their continued improved attendance! Our September attendance rate was 94.34% compared to 92.81% last year and our October attendance rate was 95% compared to 92.83% last year! Just a reminder that if your child is going to be absent for any reason please contact your child’s school in one of the following ways:

  1. All schools have an attendance hotline. If you know your child

    is going to

be absent, please call the school’s main line and select the attendance option to report the absence.

  2. If your child is absent and has not been called in, parents/caregivers will receive a ParentSquare absence notification.

Parents/caregivers can respond to this message with the

    absence

reason on the same day of the absence.

  3. If your child is absent due to illness or a medical appointment in addition to reporting the absence, please send in an excuse note.

School Calendar Input

We are seeking input on future school year calendars.  The Board of Education will be reviewing the approved 2025-2026 and will be previewing the 2026-2027 calendar at the December 18th board meeting with approval at the January 8th board meeting. You can provide your input by completing a short question survey linked here and on our District website.

2nd Quarter Midterm Progress Reports

2nd quarter midterm progress reports will be available in ParentVue starting on Friday, November 15th. If you are not actively using ParentVue, please use this link for more information or contact your child’s school for assistance in creating an account. Please reach out to your child’s teacher or teachers if you have questions or concerns about your child’s academic or social progress.

Hope you have a great rest of your week, and thank you for your continued investment in Warren students, schools, and staff.

Dr. Tim Hanson, Superintendent of Schools for MSD Warren Township
