Feb 15 Superintendent Update Graphic

February 15, 2023

Good Afternoon Warren Students, Families, and Staff,

We have several important announcements for the week of February 15th.

Please remember there is no school on Monday, February 20th, and the third and final planned eLearning day is scheduled for Tuesday, February 21st. Just a reminder that this will be a synchronous eLearning day which means that our students will be required to meet virtually with their teachers on this day. Students in grades 5-12 can find their Zoom links and schedules in Canvas, and K-4 students will receive their Zoom links and schedules from their teacher. The 22-23 school calendar is linked here.

3rd quarter midterm progress reports will be available in ParentVue starting Friday, February 17th. If you are not actively using ParentVue, please use this link for more information or contact your child’s school for assistance in creating an account. Please reach out to your child’s teacher or teachers if you have questions or concerns about your child’s progress.

We ask that our students, staff, and families make safety their top priority and assist us with the sharing of information to prevent an incident or to inform us of an incident that has occurred. As a reminder, we have a Safety Concern Hotline, 317-532-3049, and an online form that can be used to share this information. This information can be shared anonymously or by providing your contact information.

Related to safety, on Monday, March 13th, MSD Warren Township, in collaboration with community partners, will be hosting its second community forum on school safety and security. The forum will again meet at Creston Intermediate Middle School from 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM. We invite all Warren families, staff, and community members to attend. More details and information will be shared as we get closer to the event.

On May 2nd, MSD Warren Township will be asking Warren Township voters to approve a $.30 cent operating levy referendum rate per $100 of property value. If approved, this will provide the necessary funding to support the following District areas: Student and Staff Safety and Security, Teacher and Staff Retention, Student Transportation, Student Learning and College and Career Readiness Programs, and Student and Staff Technology. Please check out our District website and our January and February informational newsletters, and if you have further questions, please contact me.

It is getting to that time of year when we start thinking about the upcoming 2023-2024 school year.

MSD Warren Township will be hosting its annual Teacher Recruitment Fair on Tuesday, March 7th. If you are interested or know someone who might be interested, please visit our website for more information. There will be an opportunity to participate either in person or virtually.

Also looking forward to next year, we are excited to host Kindergarten Kick-Off Registration on Monday, March 20th, from 6:00-8:00 at each of our elementary schools. This kick-off event provides our newest students and families to pre-register, tour their school, meet their teachers, and ask questions about the upcoming school year.

Thank you for your continued support and investment in our students, staff, and schools.

Together…#WarrenWill grow our students!

Dr. Tim Hanson, Superintendent of Schools for MSD Warren Township
