March 22 Superintendent Update Graphic

March 22, 2023

Good Afternoon Warren Students, Families, and Staff,

We have some important announcements for the week of March 22nd.

I want to give a big #WarrenWill shout-out to our Warren Central Director of Choirs, Mr. Brian Long, and the Warren Central A Cappella group, 16th Street Soul. Last Saturday, 16th Street Soul was named the Grand Champion of the International Championships of High School A Cappella Midwest Region in a competition in Harrison, OH. They are the first high school from Indiana to win this honor and now will move on to compete in New York City at the end of April. Here is a link to their performance from Saturday! Congratulations to Mr. Long and the 9 amazing performers, and best of luck in New York!

Just a reminder to all of our 4th-grade scholars and families that tonight, March 22nd, is the Journey to Intermediate Middle School Open Houses at Stonybrook, Creston, and Raymond Park from 6:00 - 7:30 pm.

Thank you to our families and staff who have completed the Spring Panorama Survey. Just a reminder that the survey window is open through this Friday, March 24th. You can access the survey linked here.

Just a reminder that MSD Warren Township is not in the road construction business. That being said, we will do our very best to keep you updated on the progress of Post Road Construction, which began yesterday. If you travel this way, please allow yourself extra time or choose an alternate route. This project is scheduled to last until November.

We are excited to host our Pleasant Run Elementary Open House tomorrow evening from 6:00 - 7:30 to celebrate the completion of its much-needed renovation. We are inviting current and former Pleasant Run scholars, families, and the community to stop by and check out the new and updated Pleasant Run. 16th Street Soul will also be there to perform!

I am hoping by now that all of our families and staff are aware that Warren will be asking our voters to approve a referendum on the May 2 ballot. This .09 cent increase from the current referendum will allow us to maintain and sustain our current safety and security people and programs, remain competitive in salaries and benefits so that we can retain our inCREdible employees, provide safe and reliable transportation to almost 10,000 scholars, create career and college readiness opportunities for ALL of our scholars, and provide up to date technology for ALL scholars and ALL staff. The .09 cent increase from the current referendum will reset the 8-year timeline and provide this funding to support these areas until 2031. For information, please visit our Referendum Webpage or contact me at thanson@warren.k12.in.us or 317-869-4346.

As we head into the last couple of days before our Spring Intersession Break, I want to wish everyone a safe and enjoyable two-week break. You deserve it!

Thank you for your continued support and investment in our Warren scholars, schools, and staff.

Together…#WarrenWill grow our scholars!

Dr. Tim Hanson, Superintendent of Schools for MSD Warren Township
