August 14, 2024
Good Afternoon, Warren Scholars, Families, and Staff,
We have a few important and exciting announcements for the week of August 14th.
Attendance and Reading
Our priority areas again this school year will be centered on student attendance and K-12 reading. This past year, we experienced again some incredible growth in both of these areas. For the second year in a row, every Warren school improved their student attendance and as a district, we reached a 92% attendance rate. While we are excited to continue to see positive momentum, we have some work to do to reach our goal of 97%. We have noticed that our biggest area of improvement is reducing the number of students who miss more than 10 days of school. Our school and district teams will be working with these students and families to remove barriers from coming to school.
It brings me much joy to share that our final 2023-2024 IREAD3 results were released today from the Indiana Department of Education. ALL 10 Warren Elementary schools made tremendous progress and as a district, we achieved an 81.7% pass rate. The highest in Warren’s history and we ranked 4th out of the 11 Marion County Districts! Pleasant Run and Lakeside were recognized today for achieving one of the top 10 highest growth percentages of the IDOE Cadre Schools. Pleasant Run was 4th with a 21.5% growth and Lakeside was 9th with a 17% growth!
Our progress and success in these areas is a Team effort. Congratulations to our teachers, staff, families, and most importantly, our students. When we get better, our students win!

MSD Warren Township, in partnership with the Indiana Immunization Coalition, will provide a clinic to accommodate immunizations required for school-age children on August 22nd, at Moorhead Community Resource Center from 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm. There is no cost for this and families are asked to pre-register for this event. The registration link for the immunization clinic is patients.vaxcare.com/registration. After clicking the link, enter the enrollment code IN65942, and select Warren Schools- 8/22/24. Linked here and below are the required immunizations for school-age children for the 24-25 school year.
I am excited to host a series of Sippin with the Superintendent events for the 2024-2025 school year. These informal events will be held throughout the school year at some of our Warren schools and community sites in Warren Township. The first event will be next Thursday, August 15th at Creston Intermediate Middle School from 8:00 AM -9:30 AM. This is an opportunity for MSD Warren Township staff, families, and community members to have a conversation about the beginning of the 2024-2025 school year over a cup of coffee.
I would like to share another opportunity for our Warren staff, families, and community members to engage in conversation about our student experiences and academic progress in Warren schools. Our Warren School Board and District Leaders are hosting a public work session on Wednesday, August 21st from 5:30 - 6:30 to collaborate on ideas, strategies, and actions that are needed to provide our students with the highest quality education experience. This will be hosted at our Warren Education Community Center at 975 North Post Road.
Thank you for your continued investment in our Warren schools, staff, and students!
We Can Do It!
